You’ll have a 20 minute photo session that includes the shoot and image selection.
Each photo session is scheduled with a ten minute buffer between clients.
It’s important that you arrive on time. Early clients may have to wait outside the studio. Late clients may have to wait until the next available time slot. Most of my Headshot Specials sell out but I schedule a few open spots during each day and I try hard to accommodate everyone. Text to make sure the previous client has departed before entering the studio.
If you’ve brought a couple extra garments to choose from arrive a few minutes early. I’ll take a quick look and have you change if I see something that might photograph better in your options.
Have your makeup and hair done and lips on (if wearing any) by the start of your session. Masks will smudge makeup, especially lipstick. If you arrive with a mask please remove it a few minutes before your session to allow the marks on your face to fade and to touch up make up if wearing any.
We’ll do the next part together.
I’ll shoot your headshots while are you seated at a table. I show you where to sit and instruct you how to position your body, arms and head in the most appealing manner. I will make you smile. Yes, I do. Even if you prefer a headshot without a smile WE will smile anyway to break up the tension of a serious face. You can choose a less smiley shot as your final selection in the end.
During the first half of your session, we will shoot between 30 and 40 images. I shoot some images including your upper body (down to your elbows) and then progressively move closer to get close up shots. The LinkedIn profile crops to a tight circle and does not allow you to adjust that crop. If you prefer your face to have a little room around it, we will choose one of the farther away images as your final. If you are in a conservative industry, (financial services for example) let me know in advance. I will shoot extra wide to include your shoulders also in the frame. If you are in a less conservative industry also let me know. We can play! It’s great fun to shoot with a horizontal or edgy off center framing.
We use an unlit white background for the sessions that comes out as a light gray. We are not able to make background and lighting changes during your session.
The second half of your session is used to review the images together and select the final image that is included with the session. We’ll review your images in a small-ish size on the computer. NO ONE needs to see a big version of themselves without retouching! See Retouching Your Images for more info.
Using a process of elimination we will review your set of images up to five times and apply a rating system to track your favorites. Yes, it seems daunting to have to pick on the spot. But I will guide you through the process and it will be easier than you expect.
If you like more than one shot, you can purchase additional images. Depending on your needs, having a few different shots can be useful. Changing up your photos online and on social platforms can up your SEO.
You can pay for any additional images at the end of your session.
And then you’re done for the day! All in twenty minutes or less!
